Webcam Story, Part Six

I am a happy camper! The above rating is for the digital camera itself, which is working as designed. It is not the world’s best camera, nor is it necessarily the easiest to use, but now that it’s installed, it is pretty much solid. And it records sound, too.

The following rating is for the software I found to make the webcam.

The CoffeeCup software works. Again, it may not be the easiest (I have some problems with figuring out what-all it does and how it does it) but if I can get it to work, it’s not the hardest. At about $30 with a 21-day free, fully-functional trial period, it seems to be a reasonable price also.

The software makes a still photo that reloads at a regular interval. Mine is set to 60 seconds. It was set up for 15, but that’s a lot of bandwidth…

You can see it at thestidhams.com/kathleen/webcam.html. Obviously, it won’t work when the computer is off or the program that runs it is not up… but the last picture taken will stay up until a new one is posted.

Next step, short avi videos…
