Afternoon Update

It has started to rain, it’s close to 40 outside, about 4 Centigrade. The snow is melting fast and is gone from the trees and branches. By tonight it should be as if it never existed. But we will know…

Here are three pics the younger stidkid took about ten o’clock this morning. The first is of the willow that is about to bloom in front of the propane tank. The one in the middle shows the accumulation on top of the end of the clothesline… at least two inches! The last one is the front yard, looking toward the quince tree.

And now the wind, as predicted, is starting to pick up again.

Addendum. After “Schreesearching” in one of AGs B Books, I believe it was a Great Horned Owl as it had a distictive white band or bib showing beneath it’s head. It had it’s beak burried in it’s chest, trying to get some sleep, although being in plain sight if one looked in the right direction, was a pretty poor choice. There was a literal forest of huge gum trees, eucliptus of some sort I think just behind it where any number of birds could be unseen. We also saw what must have been a butterfly hatch. Ma says she believes it is the kind that will migrate down the Mexican isthmus. Very pretty, high up in the near tops of the giant trees that must be well over a hundred feet tall.

It’s a good trip so far. Not a bit of snow! Nor rain, nor flood…so far. We’re having a fine time. Love to all. Pop X

We went for a walk this afternoon along the boardwalk from our hotel to the Monarch Butterfly grove. We also saw a long eared owl in one of the gum trees! A lovely shirt=sleeve walk. Our lunch today was corned beef and shrimp coleslaw salad with rye bread and scalloped potatoes.
We are really seeing spring down here. Amazed at your Winter
    Wonderland.
