Wet Weather Poetry

torrents of wind
gusts of rain
the rumble on the roof: man vs. nature

windows shudder
pummeled by winter’s
last gasp

bright polka-dot rain boots
searching for keys
the nearest puddle becomes
an amusement park

snow
on rain
the soggy wet carpet
hides yesterday’s
trampled playgound

dog wants out
toy in mouth
waiting by the door
to come in

daffodils
the only sunshine
today
robins hunt
on weedy lawn

ladies in waiting
tulip and currant
plum, apple, peach
hazel and elderberry
waiting for spring

I hope to have the energy and time next month to write a poem a day. Last time, I tried to write daily poems based on geography (search for these under the category “poetry”). In previous years I wrote random poems or poems on the garden (search for those under “NaPoWriMo” or “poetry”). This time… suggestions? Was thinking about trying to write about science terms and discoveries, but open to ideas!

And just for fun, here is the site that lists many of the other poets who are going to participate in NaPoWriMo this year!
