Floors. Pretty, pretty floors.

A picture of the floors after staining and before sealing:

Golden-yellow with deeper brown tones at random intervals.
Color applied, and then rained on… The “matte” parts are the color as it was applied, the shiny bits where the rain had fallen were (I hoped) indicative of the final product.

And some pictures from earlier today (Sunday, October 6):

I am in love with the colors, the textures… even the depth of color. The areas that look “matte” in a couple of the pictures I took were covered in a very heavy dew. Which I discovered when I walked around in stocking feet!

The dog prints are mostly from the neighbors’ dogs. I don’t mind them. Most of them will wash right off (theory tested with the afore-mentioned soggy socks). And the rest, well — I never mind reminders of the life all around us!

Now I need walls. Strong, straight, insulated, weather-blocking walls. Fingers crossed!

It has such a depth and richness of tone — once the walls are in and the roof/ceiling is on, I will decide how to paint the walls so the floors don’t overwhelm the rest of the space. It will be lovely, and warm… I can hardly wait to start thinking about the colors and textures for our home.

I love the mottled look! I had no idea that they could do that and it gives it all such depth. Definately does not look orange like my friends’.
    Lucky you
