We have a roof. And dormers.

A roof. And soon, maybe by the end of this month (if things can dry out enough) ceilings. Definitely before the winter vacation. And then… then things will start being crazy-busy with all the inside tasks: lights, cabinets, trim, painting…

I took a few pictures this morning before I went to school. Yes, I drove out to my home, and then all the way back in, just to see the progress George and George made since Monday (our framers have an easy way for me to remember their names, did you figure it out?).

Here’s the gist of it, unlabeled photos just so I can get something up. I hate to leave my amazing readers hanging! Sorry they are a bit blurry — my cell phone has good picture-capacity, but without a flash and in my haste…

The view down the hallway. Admittedly, drywall and lights will make a difference, but I am REALLY psyched about putting in solatubes! It will make it so much less dismal and confining. You can see my office window in this view, but the offset door means once the drywall goes in we'll need some sort of art (or mirror?).

Looking out the living room window. The unofficial "skylight" changes how the light comes in, but overall you can get a sense for how something overhead changes the feeling of the room. I am SO glad I am getting a front door with 1/2 glass in it. It will make the corner where the entry is much brights and more inviting.

Dormers ready. You can see how nice the front porch will be, providing a bit of a dry(er) landing space for people coming in. Secondary dormers over the front bedroom windows (one is Tom's office, of course).

See how close the door is to the ground? After the porch is poured, and we backfill the driveway (which has been demolished in all the upheaval), my home will be about as close to ground-level as one is ever likely to get. Looking forward to seeing the rest of this project come together!

    I can hardly wait until we are ready for visitors. Of course, putting all the other pieces in place may mean we’re all sitting on the floor. LOL At least it will be a pretty floor (and warm)!

    I am so impressed with how quickly things are going for you all. It looks lovely and will be such a showcase for your art and memories.
    I can hardly wait until it is ready for visitors from the Comox Valley. *happy smile*
