Alterations, small but meaningful

I am sure there are details we will think about later, but we are making some reasonably good decisions about placement and function. Here is the new placement for the fireplace, up slightly from the floor. Tom took the pics today as I worked late at school, but it is about 6 inches above the floor now.

And in the bedroom, adding the south-facing window up high results in a greatly improved light, even after four in the middle of winter. Nice and bright for morning time.

Leaving actual decorating decisions until after we move in will be a good idea in the long run, though some times I wish we were moving into a completely finished space. After all, every moment and dollar spent on the inside is time and money. I cannot lavish on the garden! And we know I long for dirt under my nails again.
