Bright Ideas

The lights are attached.

Here is the pretty one for my office, from two angles:

This is very pretty in person, a little jewel in the tiny room that is my office. It will allow for some pretty, diffused light to offset the fluorescent work lights over the desks.

One in the master bedroom needs to be rehung properly so the seam in the barrel isn’t so obvious, but the rest look fabulous.

It's not obvious from this angle, but from the entry door and the bed, there is a seam (on the right in this picture) that is dark against the light. It should be a relatively easy fix. I like this fixture otherwise, although as advertised it is not very bright. The light in the entry to the room is considerably brighter, though much less attractive.

And the coup-de-grace: This is the most expensive light fixture in the house, the most idiosyncratic, and I think probably one of my favorite elements in the whole place.

Not the best picture, but it shows how lucky we were in placing this fixture. Grant just fits underneath! It looks fabulous when lit, but the little camera was having trouble with the competing light source of the skylights. I would show a close-up of the amazing top, but that one didn't turn out.

We also saw Jon-the-Plumber today and talked about the pot filler and some of the other issues we need to resolve in the next few weeks. He figured out a couple of tweaks to the heating system that will get worked out, and we are going to (hopefully by tomorrow) see a BIG change! The thermostats are in, so that alone will help us more objectively see how the system is working.

Finally, the wall oven has been installed, and it looks really nice. It ALSO has an extra filter, that Jon says will fit nicely and unobtrusively behind the microwave. So… we are getting there. It will be a good kitchen.

The ghostly images are me and Tom -- I am on the left. My shoes are reflected in the oven, my face in the microwave. Did not notice them when I snapped this pic! The cabinetry looks all askew, but it is a function of the angle of the shot and my inability to line things up properly today.
