    Sun Twisters (suggested by Krista)

    Reaching out
    into the inky cold
    superheated
    brighter than light
    spiraling
so fast, time almost stands still
    and then
    bending down again
    to touch
    the origin:
    Sol

When this was suggested I immediately thought about those giant plasma bursts that reach long tendrils out from the sun’s surface. Apparently, I wasn’t far wrong. Here is a video of one, from last year. And here is a page from National Geographic that describes the solar twisters and also has a link to some video.

This was a very COOL (hot?) topic — thanks, Krista!
